How to add discounts from the POS

Various manual discounts are available to add to a sale in the POS.

 

Line discounts

A line discount is a discount that is applied to a specific item.

 

 

Apply a line discount

To apply a line discount to an item:

  • Select the line
  • Enter the Line Discount % and close the sales line details
  • The discount is applied and the price is updated.

 

Edit a discount

To edit a discount simply use the same method as before to enter a new discount value.

 

Remove a discount

To remove a discount simply use the same method as before but remove the value in the field or set it to zero.

 

Note that by default only Line Discount % is visible, but it is simple to add the Line Discount Amount column to the list. Simply click on any column header and select Choose Column and add the Line Discount Amount field. The column will be added to the list.

 

 

Total discounts

A total discount is a discount that is applied to all the items in the sale.

 

 

Apply a total discount

To apply a total discount:

  • Open the actions menu
  • Select either Total Discount % or Total Discount Amount and enter the value
  • The total price is updated.

 

Edit a discount

To edit a total discount simply use the same method as before to enter a new total discount value.

 

Remove a discount

To remove a total discount simply use the same method as before but set the value to zero.

 

 

Total amount due

In addition to giving discounts it is also possible to change the total amount due for the sale.

 

Change the total amount due

To change the total amount due

  • Either select Total Amount from the actions menu, or click on the Total Amount Excl. Tax tile.
  • Enter a new Total Amount in the popup

 

 

This changes the Total Amount due, excluding tax, by calculating how much of a discount would be applied in order to achieve the requested total.
