Printing with PrintNode

The default behaviour when printing from Business Central is that the printout is saved as a PDF document and needs to be opened in a PDF viewer before it can be printed. But using a 3rd party cloud printing service PrintNode, LS Express can be set up to print directly to a receipt printer.

How to: Install PrintNode

  1. Sign up for a PrintNode account on the PrintNode website.
  2. Once an account has been created, download the PrintNode client (available for Windows and Mac OS).

  3. Once the client has been downloaded, install it on a computer with access to the printer, which will be used to print receipts and sign in using the same account information used to log into the PrintNode website.

Copy the API Key

  1. On the PrintNode website, open the API Keys tab, and copy the API Key (if a key has not been created, then create the key and copy it).

  1. From the LS Express Point of Sale role center, open the Administration page.

  2. Scroll down to the Printing section where you will see the PrintNode API Key field. Paste the PrintNode API Key you copied in the previous step.

How to: Assign PrintNode Printers

Once you have pasted the PrintNode API Key, LS Express will fetch the information from your PrintNode account - enabling you to select your printer in the next step.

 

  1. Open Administration > Navigate > Sales Profiles.

  2. Select a sales profile you want to connect to a printer.

  3. In the Printing fast tab, choose PrintNode in the Slip Printing Method field . You should see the list of printers that were imported from PrintNode.

  4. Select the printer that you want to use for the Sales Profile and if the Print Slip Automatically toggle is activated, the Receipt Slip will be printed automatically from that printer.

  5. You can also choose a printer from the same list of printers that will be used to print standard Sales Invoices.

How to: Refresh PrintNode Printers

If you add a new printer or a computer to your PrintNode account, the changes need to be refreshed in LS Express.

  • On the Administration page, select PrintNode > Refresh Printers. This action retrieves all printers from your PrintNode account into LS Express.
