Change Price

How to: Change the Price of an Item

  • Find the item in the POS line that you want to modify the price for. You can do this by selecting the item line.

  • Once you select the item line, you will see the Unit Price field (labeled Unit Price Excl. Tax in the screenshot below — the exact label depends on your Business Central language and market). Enter the new price you want to apply to the item in this field.

  • Note that when you change the item's price, the tax will be automatically re-calculated based on the new price.

  • If these price fields aren't shown at all for a staff member, that staff's Block Discount and Price Change setting is enabled on the Staff Card, which hides all price- and discount-related fields on the sales line for them.

How to: Set the Price of an Item Including VAT

Whether prices on the sale are entered including or excluding VAT is controlled by the Prices Including VAT setting on the sales document itself (inherited from your customer or store setup), not by a setting on the item. Regardless of that setting, you can enter a price on the sales line in whichever way is most convenient:

  • Enter the Unit Price directly, excluding VAT, as described above.

  • Enter the per-unit price including VAT in the Unit Price Incl. VAT field. The Unit Price (excluding VAT) is calculated automatically.

  • Enter the total price for the line, including VAT, in the Amount Including VAT field. The Unit Price (excluding VAT) is calculated automatically to match.
