Adding or Removing from Drawer

How to: Add to Drawer or Remove from Drawer in POS

  1. Open the POS application.

  2. Select either Add to Drawer or Remove from Drawer action.

  3. For Adding to Drawer, fill out the required information:

    1. Payment Method: Select the payment method from the drop-down list provided. You must choose from the designated names and not enter any payment name manually. Entering a payment method that does not exist in LSE Payment Method will result in a validation error.

    2. Amount: Enter the amount of cash you want to add to the drawer.

    3. Reason Code: Provide a reason code for the cash addition.

  4. For Removing from Drawer, fill out the required information:

    1. Payment Method: Select the payment method from the drop-down list provided. As with the adding process, you must choose from the designated names in LSE Payment Method.

    2. Amount: Enter the amount of cash you want to remove from the drawer.

    3. Reason Code: Provide a reason code for the cash removal.

These actions are recorded in the drawer overview, which is accessible from the setup. To review the full history of drawer transactions, see How to: View Drawer Entries.

G/L impact

Add to Drawer and Remove from Drawer do not post anything to the general ledger by themselves — they only create Drawer Entry records. No G/L entry is created at the time you add or remove cash.

The only G/L posting related to drawer cash happens later, at Close Out, and only for the counted Difference (the gap between the expected and counted amount for a payment method) — not for the add/remove amounts themselves. That posting only happens if the payment method's Counting Diff. G/L Account field is set; if it is blank, no difference is posted at all, even if a difference exists.
